Yesterday I continued to paint the remaining of my Hackpaw regiment (fur and cloth already had receive a base layer). I expect to be able to finish the riders this week. I'll have to do intensive multibasing then.
Today I base coated the multi base. It seems that 3 layer of diluted PVA glue is the requirement to get a smooth top surface. I also continued to paint my hackpaw regiment. Even If not totally finished, I'm now confident they will get playable for the next tournament. As theirs giant rat mounts don't feel like "enough evil", I'm considering to print them some sharp armor piece. However, I have to be careful as the unit only have a 3+ defense which mean very light armor. I plan to try to print helmets such as the one held by the league of legend champion, marauder Alistar.
Yesterday I sealed the rocks on the multibase using another layer of diluted glue. My test with liquid greenstuff was a failure. Greenstuffed surface was very rough, and green stuff were almost totally removed when I tried to sand it. I also tried to use Game Workshop PVA instead of my wood glue, but while it dry faster, the glue also whitdraw away from the edges, which led to a partial cover of the base. I also started the base coat on my ratkin Hackpaws Regiment. I'll probably craft or print some horned helmet for the giant rodent to make them look a little more dangerous...
Today, as yesterday's proof of concept was successful, I designed a new ram shield model which look more realistic. I'll print 10 of each tomorrow, what's expected to took approximately an hour and almost 5gr of PLA, which, regarding the cost of the filament, is equivalent to 0.15 €. The shields models are downloadable on thingiverse
